Subtle Energy

With some not-so-subtle puns.

Radiology

This one was written for my dad and sister, both radiologists.  Can you spot the 7 broken bones?

In the Small Dog Run

Written for a Philadelphian, this one has some local clues.

Tapas

These all have the same theme, so they can be thought of as one big puzzle chopped up into bite sized pieces.

Birthday Puzzles

I love to create personalized treasure hunts for people for their birthdays. I've tried to write walk-around treasure hunts for "the general public," but they never seem to come together well. Birthday hunts work much better for three reasons. For one thing, I do best with a concrete, mid-range deadline.  For a second, when I'm constructing it, it really helps to imagine my specific friend enjoying it; that gets me past the inevitable brick walls that come up.  For a third, I find that I create best when I have a restrictive structure to hang things on.  With birthday puzzles, that structure is: 1) What the present is towards which I'm aiming them, 2) What sorts of themes they like (cats, baseball, etc.) and 3) What kinds of puzzles they like to do and at what level of difficulty.

I've done over 30 personalized hunts by now, and here are some of my favorites (most of the ones I make aren't nearly as complex as these!  But that's part of what makes them my favorites).

Some of my puzzles made it on TV!
